SONDER is a word defined as the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own—populated with their own ambitions, friends, routines, worries and inherited craziness—an epic story that continues invisibly around you like an anthill sprawling deep underground, with elaborate passageways to thousands of other lives that you’ll never know existed, in which you might appear only once, as an extra sipping coffee in the background, as a blur of traffic passing on the highway, as a lighted window at dusk.

Each Life is as Vivid and Complex as Any Other is a European initiative dedicated to addressing Afrophobia, promoting awareness, and inspiring positive change across communities. Rooted in empathy, education, and collective responsibility, SONDER aims to challenge bias, reduce prejudice,
and build a more inclusive Europe where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.
Afrophobia remains one of the least addressed forms of discrimination in Europe, often normalised or unseen. SONDER seeks to shed light on the everyday experiences of people of African descent, encouraging understanding, dialogue, and solidarity. Through awareness-raising, education, and community involvement, we work to transform attitudes and inspire societal change.
Individuals across Europe who want to learn, understand, and be part of the change.
